Anytime you’re in Upstate New York by Lake Ontario Shore AND you know where to go AND you have a pretty good camera, you get to see Toronto Skyline with your own naked eyes. Obviously you need Clear skies as well.

So for those who think you cannot see Toronto from as far as New York State.

Google Maps GPS coordinates where the video was shot at: 43.3178 -78.8355.

The Speed Boat you see in the video belongs to:

Visit Toronto, one of the BEST cities in the world.

    1. You can see it because water is always level .
Mirages are inverted so that is not what we see either.
I trust my eyes and know water does not curve .
Therefore we can not detect curvature .
Houston you have a problem !!

    2. AkuteKnight YT Nope. I live in Toronto. Rogers centre is only about 280ft . Yet you can see the entire rogers centre from Grimsby shoreline 6ft above sea level. Search-Jenna Fredo Rogers centre from Grimsby 6FT Above sea level.
Search -Chicago from Michigan. Chicago shorline should be about 2000 ft below the supposed curvature. The news said “it’s a mirage” … The supposed curvature is 8 inches per mile SQUARED. No curvature no globe.

  1. Your video is great to show Toronto’s buildings obscured by the water of Lake Ontario due to curvature of the Earth. NICE!

  2. i live on the toronto waterfront and i can see a city across the lake, from about 120 feet up. probably isnt ny state since the buildings would have to be fairly tall for me to be able to see it over the horizon.

    1. yeah, i really hope i could see NY state from here. would be so cool to be able to see another country.

    2. Hi Alvin,
The only area on the other side of Lake Ontario with a kind of tall building (s) you apparently are able to see from your beautiful Toronto Waterfront condo is Niagara Falls, Ontario or New York State.
There are no buildings in Niagara-on-the-Lake and Rochester, NY is too far away from Toronto.
Here is where I recorded the video from:,+NY+14172/@43.3174683,-78.8365492,9z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x89d482daa93918c9:0x3c50b2184056347f!8m2!3d43.3097775!4d-78.8261499
      Have a wonderful evening.

  3. This is pretty cool. I’d like to see it out there with my own set of eyes too. What camera did you use to zoom in? I suppose Nikon Coolpix P900 should be enough in my case?

    1. I’m not a professional photo/videographer, Slade.
You can use any good photo or video camera with a pretty powerful zooming capability.
Plus clear skies on both sides of Lake Ontario.
Be safe and enjoy the summer.
